Higher Level Skills

For individuals, better skills and economically valuable qualifications are a route to achieving better jobs, career progression and higher incomes. For employers, a more highly-skilled workforce is a route to achieving higher productivity, greater competitiveness and increased profitability.

Higher Level Skills (HLS) in particular make a telling difference to business performance.

With the support of Yorkshire Forward, NAMTEC has embarked upon an innovative programme that aims to tackle the HLS needs in the AEM sector.

The key objectives of the programme are:

  • To improve the supply, quality and capability of graduates
  • To develop leadership skills that will lead to innovation
  • To ease the transition for the region's new or aspiring managers from technical backgrounds
  • To respond to technical skills shortages in the sector
  • To increase the take up of subjects linked to economic success.

The supply of high quality people into the AEM sector at all levels and their subsequent development when in work is the driver for the Higher Level Skills Programme. It is based upon activities in three programme areas:
